Hike 35: forest at La Esperanza

Finally we had good weather in this area. The hike took us into the forests of La Esperanza. We parked at the large Las Raices hikers' car park and hiked in a southerly direction. The wonderfully fresh forest air and the forest sounds are a dream.

 

The tour offers a slight ascent over the first 3 kilometres. At the end, it goes down again. The forest thins out and we can enjoy a view all the way to Santa Cruz.

Some of the goose thistles resemble a giant dandelion. The stalkless goose thistle is found towards the end of the hike in a clearing.
